Trend spotting – engagement rings in 2025
Are you planning to propose in 2025? We understand that it can be difficult to find the right rings! Since an engagement ring is something you will wear for a long time, it is important to find a style that you like. The rings in Gold of Sweden's collections are all designed to stand the test of time, but of course it's exciting to follow the latest trends and see which models we think will be favourites in the future.
This year's trends reflect not only the latest in design and style, but also the values that are important to engaged couples. From sustainability to oval diamonds and custom designs, let's take a closer look at the trends we see emerging as the strongest for engagement rings in 2025.
1. Sustainable craftsmanship
Interest in sustainability, the environment and recycled materials continues to grow and will be an important factor for many couples when choosing engagement rings in 2025. Choosing rings made from recycled gold is a trend that seems to be here to stay, and we are also seeing increased interest in the manufacturing process and that it is carried out in a sustainable way.
2. Lab-grown diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are becoming increasingly popular, and we see no signs of this trend slowing down in 2025 – quite the contrary! Many people feel that a lab-grown diamond is a better choice for the environment and see the advantages of not contributing to the environmental impact of mining. In addition, lab-grown diamonds are guaranteed conflict-free and come at a significantly lower price.
3. Wider rings
We are currently seeing high demand for delicate rings with narrow bands, but 2025 is predicted to be the year when thicker rings with slightly wider bands will start to make a comeback. We are seeing bolder combinations of wide, slightly straighter gold rings together with one or more diamond rings and even solitaire rings where the band is given as much attention as the stone. In line with this trend, we will be launching a new collection in 2025, so keep your eyes peeled!
4. Diamonds in different shapes
The classic round, brilliant-cut diamond is the obvious choice for many when it comes to choosing a stone for an engagement ring, but we are seeing a trend where more and more people are choosing other shapes to give their engagement ring a more personal touch.
The diamond shapes that are likely to dominate in 2025, apart from the brilliant cut, are the oval and emerald cut diamonds. We are also likely to see more pear-shaped and navette-cut stones, and a strong trend is emerging for two-stone rings (Toi et moi), preferably with diamonds in different shapes. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like a diamond in a different shape for your ring!

5. East West
Oval, navette-cut and emerald-cut diamonds are traditionally set vertically, but we are currently seeing increased interest in turning the stone horizontally and setting it ‘East-West’. This creates a modern twist on a classic, timeless ring design, resulting in an engagement ring with a personal touch that is perfect for 2025!

6. Details from nature
The trend of drawing inspiration from nature remains strong, and we are likely to see more flower petals, leaves and other beautiful details in 2025. Vintage-inspired ring designs and Art Deco will also feature among this year's trendiest ring designs, perfect for couples who want to bring a little bit of the romance of bygone times into the future!

7. Custom design
Custom-designed rings are more popular than ever, and we are seeing increased demand for unique and personal rings. More and more engaged couples are finding inspiration online and on social media and want to realise their ideas for the perfect rings. At Gold of Sweden, we are happy to help with everything from small adjustments to one of our ring models to sketching and manufacturing the customer's own design ideas.
In summary, we can conclude that the 2025 trends for engagement rings are very much about finding your own personal expression. The classic solitaire ring remains popular, but the round brilliant-cut diamond is facing competition from other shapes, particularly oval and emerald-cut diamonds. Sustainability and ethics are important aspects for many, and lab-grown diamonds continue to grow in popularity.
Gold of Sweden offers a wide and constantly growing range of engagement rings, and we also have extensive experience in realising our customers' own design ideas. We look forward to helping you find the rings that best symbolise your love story!
